The Guardian reported, European Union farm ministers promised on Monday to strip more layers of red tape from the bloc’s vast agriculture policy, hoping to simplify the lives of farmers battling with mountains of paperwork to claim subsidies. After months of debate, the ministers endorsed a document that calls on the EU’s executive Commission to carry on work, begun in 2005, that slices through much of the EU’s farming legislation, which accounts for nearly 60 percent of all EU law.
