We Live & Breath Countryside Life

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Kissinggates.com’s team are cutting edge, innovative, forward online thinkers, but we are also farmers- this is one of the things that sets us apart from our rivals. We actually understand the social problems for single farmers who live and work in the countryside. As such we currently operate Kissinggates.com as well as run a farm with a herd of Lincoln Red cattle and 100 ewes, which are currently lambing!

Lambing is an exciting and time consuming time for farmers, it also highlights how hard countryside dating is for single farmers when the majority of their time is spent in a lambing shed anxiously trying to keep lambs alive, which have an amazing ability to kill themselves (as do sheep :( ) This is only one of the issues concerning farmer dating and Kissinggates.com is a rural themed dating website which means we have to touch a cross section of rural society in order to deliver the best possible service to our clients.

A recent Government study found that 200,000 under 30’s are leaving the countryside a year, this kind of mass exodus has to have an impact on everyday life in rural areas and one of the reasons we are finding people are leaving is because they can not find a single partner and not just simply because of job opportunities. Kissinggates.com is an excellent way to meet new people and help change this trend for leaving the countryside, we really must not let rural Britain lose it’s rural culture and industry. Join us on Kissinggates and register free to find yourself a partner.

Where to go on a first date?

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

The location of your first date is a difficult one to get right and there are certainly no rules surrounding dating, particularly concerning single farmers. It is a very personal thing dating and what works for one person will not necessarily work for another, for example some people are attracted to opposites but others like their partners identical, that is why at Kissinggates.com we facilitate online dating and help bring the two parties together but we don’t say what is right and wrong as this is so personal even for finding country friends. Below is a video to help you on your first date location;

New IceBreaker Feature Proves Great Success

Friday, March 19th, 2010

As part of a continued effort to improve the dating experience we launched a new Ice Breaker feature, this is paticualry useful for new members to get started.

Before the new Kissinggates.com IceBreaker feature country friends would have to search for partners within their area and age range and individually send messages to anyone who interested them, quite a slow process which would take a long time but not any more! Now new members can sign up for free and write one introduction message to send free to the members within their given area and age range. This should save a lot of time when searching for single farmers or country friends and make it easier to find someone - it is all free and done with one click of a button!

Another top tip for new members is to use the full search section, within that you can select members by age range, distance from you location and/or county and online within the last 24 hours.

For example a 40 yearold male farmer from Yorkshire might do a full search for;

- Age range –  30 – 50
- County – any
- Within – 30 miles
- Photos only – Yes
- Online with last 24 hours – Yes

This will diplay results from within 30 miles of him (important to select ‘any county’ if you live on the edge of a county), of 30-50 age bracket, accounts with pictures and recent activity.

We hope this advice helps and you take advantage of the latest IceBreaker feature which will save you buckets of time when looking for single farmers on Kissinggates.com, the home of rural dating.

Rachel Green Lincolnshire Celebrity Chef talks Local Farming

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Did you know Rachel Green, who presented to Kill It Cook It Eat It! On BBC3, ITV Yorkshire’s Flying Cook and Farm of Fussy Eaters on UK TV Style, is one of the few British chefs who actually comes from a farming background? Astonishingly Rachel Green’s family farm have farmed in Lincolnshire for 14 generations so it really must run in her blood.

Today the Kisisnggates.com team attended an event, called ‘Metamorphosis,’ which was about progress and successful development for businesses. Rachel Green talked for about 45 – 60 minutes about her journey in business and passion for British food which stemmed from her father who refused to stock the kitchen with any foreign foods including Cheese, Wine and Vegetables. Rachel Green has a commitment to promoting British food, but particularly Lincolnshire produce including Lincolnshire Red Cattle, this passion is quite literally contagious! Kissinggates.com, an online dating website targeting the rural community was born out of an agricultural diversification and in fact started in a farm office and interestingly we are currently building up a herd of Lincoln Red cattle up ourselves. So we live and breath the problems farmers and rural communities have because we are very much part of that community and James Vestbirk, our founder splits his time between running this rural dating website and farming rare breed cattle and sheep. This balance and understanding of the rural community is crucial to Kissinggates.com success.

If you have not heard of Rachel, do Google her, she is a fantastic chef and champion for British food :-)

Computer Farming Simulator More Popular Than Ever

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Computer Software and social media developers are focusing on a growing interest in Farming and consumer demand for information on where there food comes from. As such we are now seeing an influx of games such as Simfarm and Farming Simulator.

The bio for Farming Simulator goes something like this;

“Assuming the role of a young farmer – you can experience the 18 hours-a-day lifestyle of running a busy farm in the middle of the beautiful rolling countryside. You start the game by choosing from a small collection of basic vehicles and machinery to explode into your sparse farmland.”

Sounds fun :)

It would be interesting to know how many farmers play this game? This would be similar to working all day and then playing a game doing your job afterwards. Interestingly we think that might be the case, because farming is as much a lifestyle as a job. Social issues from living in a rural community are not really a highlight of the games and the difficulties of Farmer Wants a Wife are hard to translate into a popular social game.

It would also be interesting to compare the female and male strategies for playing the games and to consider if a horse loving single lady would build paddocks on her farm, in an effort to balance agriculture with pleasure. We certainly think the two should be not be mutually exclusive and Horse Dating is a big feature of Kissinggates.com.

Maybe this is being sexist, but unfortunately the majority of farmers in the UK are male and this explains the popularity of farmer wants a wife because traditionally farmers struggle to search beyond a given radius of the farm and relocating is difficult. However singletons who love horses and horse dating should seek out farmers with ample land to accommodate of horse or two ;)

What to give on a second date?!

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Did you know KissingGates.com has launched a video tutorial page? Plus we will be releasing our second video this week! If you look on the right you can catch up on our latest Dating Video Tutorial. – - – - > >

This video highlights, in a fun manner the importance of being yourself and taking dating one step at a time, as Online Dater’s we often draw on our own experiences of Countryside Dating when writing advice and discussing Dating Tips. The thing we have learnt at Kissinggates.com is there are no rules for dating, some people say opposites attract, others believe you need similarities. Some people suggest going for a meal on a first date, others think it is to formal. From this experience we conclude you must be yourself and not change your interests or hobbies to fit someone else’s, although in a good relationship there needs to be compromise. Here is a video guide;

We are often asked for advice on writing profiles when you register.  In simplest terms online dating is about selling yourself, but in an honest way. Here are some ideas; it is always good to tell people your social situation for example “I have just moved to the area because of my job” or “I am a busy most weekends with my children.” This helps others relate and understand the stage of your life you are at. The most important feature of countryside dating is to add a picture to your profile, this will have a huge difference on your success at recieving messages. We also recommend you use a special feature we have just developed that allows you to take a picture using a web cam and we can date and time verify this to prove it is a recent picture (with a green tick!).

There are more tips and advice once you sign up as a member. Good luck :)
