Finding Love in the Countryside

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

Here at KissingGates.com we strongly believe that there is love out there for everyone one. The summer has quickly slipped by and now we are facing the run-up to the Christmas, and if you’re feeling a little down because you have been left on your lonesome this year, now is the time be pro-active and find love!

In all honesty, finding country friends if you live in the countryside can be quite a difficult task. Unlike town and cities, the country doesn’t play host to a large number of venues in order to meet new people. Did you know that there are plenty of single farmers out there that are in the same position as yourself? Pick yourself and have a little fun before life passes you by!

Farmer Wants a Wife – The Idea Behind KissingGates.com

Established by James Vestbirk, KissingGates.com was created to help the farming community such as single farmers to meet country friends. Due to the current economic climate having a harsh effect on the vast majority of us, many pubs have been forced to close down meaning there are limited places for single farmers to meet country friends.

Horse Dating – A Melting Pot for Singles?

As you’re probably already aware, country shows and annual horse events are a melting pot for single farmers looking to meet country friends. If you’re involved in eventing or hunting, most likely your weekends will already be occupied. Attending such events is a great way to find partners for farmers and possibly go horse dating!

If you missed out on the excitement yesterday don’t panic, BBC 2 are showing highlights of the cross country at 12.30 – 14.15 today (Monday) and the conclusion of Badminton will be televised today at 17.55-18.25. If you had a great day at Badminton but didnt find a single man or woman why not register free on Kisisnggates.com.

What’s happened at Badminton so far?

The weather may not be as good as last year, but that has not put people off this years Badminton Horse Trials, which has always been a major horsey crowd puller! Kissinggates.com had the pleasure of attending the cross country day yesterday and what an impressive day it was! This year’s Badminton course seemed to be even more challenging which always makes it exciting to watch and support, it also had a dramatic affect on the leader board.

Badminton Horse Trial highlights on BBC

Badminton Highlights Televised Today

Badminton Horse Trials has traditionally been a good place for horse dating- Country shows and annual horse events are a melting pot for rural singles who are rarely brought together from the four corners of the countryside. Meeting a country friend and that special person is often difficult in the countryside, particularly if most of your weekends are spent eventing or hunting. This is why online dating offers such an opportunity to single horse lovers. Kissinggates.com is more than just a rural themed dating site though- We bring likeminded country people together as friends and in many cases couples. We have created a centre for social networking on a personal level which is ideal if you also enjoyed out a day at Badminton and came away thinking you would love to go on a horse date!

Great Feedback on new features.

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Thank you for all your comments and suggestions. We just heard from Jane, a 33 year old member from Norfolk with a passion for Horse Dating, she said -

“You have saved me so much time! I wish the ice breaker tool was here when I started using Kissinggates.com. It means I can talk to a whole host of single farmers in my area! Thanks again.”

Inline

The icebreaker tool allows you to message members in your area within a certain age bracket, this is particularly useful if you are, for example a single farmer looking to talk to a horse dating girl- you could send a message out saying “Hi Im Will I live on my family farm and love hunting, I would love to find someone to take on a horsey date. I saw your profile and you look quite country so I thought I would send you a message, hope to hear from you soon :)”

In addition to this another filtering tool has just been launched so you can filter who you receive messages from. Something a lot of people fed back to us was that people didn’t read their profile, which may have said ”looking for over 50′s to message me.” Now you can set a filter so only over 50′s can message you;

- This is done by signing in to KissingGates.com, the home of single farmer dating!

- Clicking on ‘My Account’

- Selecting your options – within a certain age bracket / with a picture / and within a certain distance of my location.

These new features should go someway towards improving your experience and time on kissinggates.com, we hope you find someone soon :)

Kissinggates.com improves user experience

Monday, April 26th, 2010

Regular readers of our blog will be disappointed to see we have not posted much last week, however the good news is we are now back to update you on what we have been up to;

We continually modify and evolve our systems so that we are offering you the best opportunity to find someone, especially farmer wants a wife, we would rather you found someone in a month and told 6 of your friends, than found someone in 6 months. Dating is all about numbers, and there is someone for everyone - kissinggates.com helps improve your odds to find that person.

As a member you can now send an ice breaker message free to a group of members so you can get the ball rolling and saving you having to send 100′s of individual messages. We have also introduced the ability for members to filter there contact preferences – which allows all members to select who they want to hear from, this has improved the searches and quality of contacts.

This is a reflection of our commitment to empowering you with the tools to find country friends as there are no rules to say farmer x should match horse lover y.

What is the best way to find a farmer wants a wife?

When searching always opt for the full search. If you are a 35 year old horse dating looking for country friends we suggest you look for 30 – 40 age bracket within any county and 30 miles of your location. This will ultimately help you find a horse dating partner.

Chicken Smallholding’s Growing in popularity.

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

More and more farmers are looking to diversify and the high profile Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall, living the good life on his small holding are further increasing interest in understanding where your food comes from and even rearing your own food.

We went to a car boot sale recently and someone was even selling free range chickens and associated products there, this movement towards the good life is meaning there is an increase in people leaving the city and town to move into the country or at least out skirts of towns which is beginning to counter a traditional shift where people are leaving the countryside in favour of  the city life.

A significant proportion of the young generation are however still leaving the countryside in search of jobs in the cities because of better social opportunities in the city, this does make it very difficult to continue a passion for equestrian life in the city centre which may explain why we are seeing such an influx of interest in Horse Dating

The equestrian dating sector is one which is growing incredibly popular with more and more people looking for horse dating options online as the traditional methods for finding a partner are being removed, such as looking in rural pubs which all seem to be closing. Kissinggates.com is the ideal location for horse dating because we are not just a horse dating website, we are a rural themed dating site. There are several pure equestrian dating sites however we think you will have a better chance of finding a life long partner if you share parallel interests such as a horse lover meeting a farmer wants a wife.

Easter Weekend Bonza

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

This week’s Monday blues were postponed untill Tuesday and a short week this week after a busy Easter weekend, which fell early this year pushing the price of lamb up even higher if farmers could reach the Easter market in time!

Kissinggates.com has also seen a growth in registrations as singletons return to their families to be asked “have you found a partner yet?” The horrible pressure put under singletons to find someone is rising as people are getting married older, single occupancy increasing etc. This is even more so in the countryside where it is difficult to  find a partner because of the physical landscape and demograghics - there are less people across a wider area meaning the odds are against countryside dating. To improve these odds Kissinggates.com is bringing together Country Friends to  find each other and friendship as well as the opportunity to find a relationship. This is ideal if you are a farmer wants a wife or just looking to meet new friends.

Registration is free, safe and simple and it is a one page form. This gives you a chance to search for horse dating singles as well as rural singles to “try before you buy.” Another new free feature is the ice breaker message which allows you to send a mass message to members in your area taking the hassle out of spending hours searching!

UK Super Dairy

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Recent news and discussions in the agricultural press has surrounded the planned super dairy at Nocton which is a reflection of a shift in agriculture towards US style intense farming. Nocton Dairy intends to have over 8,000 dairy cows and they aim to produce around 250,000 litres of milk / day from Nocton, Lincolnshire which they say will add a significant contribution to the local economy. One of the key selling points is the farm plans to employ over 80 local staff including a full time vet and to use local farmers to contract grow the feed requirements for Nocton.

This change and growth in farming is a significant shift which is worrying the smaller dairy farmers who are already struggling to compete. However the farm is a move forward in terms of innovation and catching up with other European markets, Kissinggates.com’s team were recently in Denmark researching the Horse Dating market which is a growing segment of the Danish online dating sector. Being a rural themed dating website Kissinggates.com is able to offer a wider offering than narrow pure horse dating nichie websites which means there are more like minded members at Kissinggates.com, the home of rural of dating. We also offer a country friends finding service which helps our members find friends as well as partners. When researching the dating sector in Denmark we found country friends dating is very popular addition. While in Denmark we also had an opportunity to visit a dairy farm which was using similar technologies to the Nocton dairy. We witnessed sand being used to bed the cattle which seemed very effective and hygiene so it will be interesting to see how it goes in Lincolnshire.

Kissinggates.com on BBC Radio Newcastle

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

James Vestbirk, founder of Kissinggates.com, was on BBC Radio Newcastle on Monday with Jonathan Miles discussing online dating and rural issues surrounding singletons living in Newcastle and Northumberland. The North East is a popular Horse Dating area and we discussed this with Jonathan Miles live on BBC Newcastle. There seems to be a great deal of interest in Farmer Wants a Wifefrom the toon and James tried to answer why this might be?

Kissinggates featured in the Weekend Telegraph

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

The Weekend section of the Saturday Telegraph last week was a story and feature titled “Single Country Girl Seeks Handsome Farmer.” Within this article KissingGates.com was mentioned as a rural dating website and online community for farmer dating, horse riders and lovers of country sports.

It is fantastic to be recognised as a hot, up and coming online dating website for single farmers and of course horse dating. We have been regularly acknowledged by the press as a leading niche countryside dating website. Want to learn more about Kissinggates.com.

Computer Farming Simulator More Popular Than Ever

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

Computer Software and social media developers are focusing on a growing interest in Farming and consumer demand for information on where there food comes from. As such we are now seeing an influx of games such as Simfarm and Farming Simulator.

The bio for Farming Simulator goes something like this;

“Assuming the role of a young farmer – you can experience the 18 hours-a-day lifestyle of running a busy farm in the middle of the beautiful rolling countryside. You start the game by choosing from a small collection of basic vehicles and machinery to explode into your sparse farmland.”

Sounds fun :)

It would be interesting to know how many farmers play this game? This would be similar to working all day and then playing a game doing your job afterwards. Interestingly we think that might be the case, because farming is as much a lifestyle as a job. Social issues from living in a rural community are not really a highlight of the games and the difficulties of Farmer Wants a Wife are hard to translate into a popular social game.

It would also be interesting to compare the female and male strategies for playing the games and to consider if a horse loving single lady would build paddocks on her farm, in an effort to balance agriculture with pleasure. We certainly think the two should be not be mutually exclusive and Horse Dating is a big feature of Kissinggates.com.

Maybe this is being sexist, but unfortunately the majority of farmers in the UK are male and this explains the popularity of farmer wants a wife because traditionally farmers struggle to search beyond a given radius of the farm and relocating is difficult. However singletons who love horses and horse dating should seek out farmers with ample land to accommodate of horse or two ;)
