Kissinggates.com is not only committed to helping single farmers find love in the rural community but we also aim improve services for people who live in the countryside. As such, today we attended an event on Entreprenuship and ‘Solutions for Business‘ where we raised a topic for discussion on broadband infrastructure within the UK countryside, there is a lot of business support services receiving funding but there is a very limited amount spent on improving rural infrastructure which innovation relies upon.

However there is hope in the form of Virgin who are trialing delivering fibre optic high speeds over telegraph poles, in doing so they hope to reach a further one million rural homes and the UK government has pledged that everyone in the country will  have 2Mps broadband by 2012, lets hope so. This will mean more people can use dating services like Kisisnggates.com to find new country friends. The roll out of fast broadband to rural areas is essential to continue remote social networking and it is a segment of the UK which could really benefit from the changes fast broadband can bring.

However it is on the agenda and we are optimistic if people keep pushing for an improved focus on rural broadband eventually it will happen, fingers crossed

The problem we are hearing a lot of is rural pubs closing and where can a farmer wants a wife find their prospect if the social location is completely removed. In response to this problem Kissinggates.com was launched by a farmer, for farmers. However now the site has grown from it’s humble beginnings in 2008 from a farm office we have opened our doors and become a rural themed dating website. James Vestbirk, founder of Kissinggates.com, returned to BBC Radio Lincolnshire this morning, earlier than previous mid-morning shows to talk to Rod Whiting about online dating and general news stories.

The amusing stories included James’ depicting how he nearly saw a lion which later turned out to be a domestic cat-this relating to a story on the Lincolnshire Black Panther which is said to roam the Wolds.

Lincolnshire is a very appropriate location to discuss online dating because of it’s rural nature and recent loss of rural services such as pubs and post offices. However this is a nationwide problem, the good news is Internet access is slowly improving in rural areas giving way for new services for countryside dating websites. The safety issues around online dating were discussed as well as the process of online dating. A listener text in and commented on some pictures not being of real people on other dating sites, we have developed a system where by members can take a picture of themselves within Kissinggates.com on their own web cam, we then date and time verify this picture which proves it’s authenticity. James also clarified this is a rural themed dating website which is a country friends finder as well as an online dating site.

This winter has been a severe one, with lots of rain and snow, making it particularly difficult for farmers, particularly livestock farmers. People living in the countryside have been completely cut off and often the Internet has been there only access to the outside world. Also the fantastic British pub culture will be wiped out if the youth continue to leave the countryside.

March is now upon us and the heavy rain and wet land is giving farmers a chance to catch up on the paper work and ELS applications etc which is an optimistic way at looking at the lack of action in the farm yard. It is however giving farmers a bit of time to search for a partner and we are finding a dramatic increase in single farmers registering on Kissinggates.com, partly due to the weather but also because of the problems in the rural community finding love.
