BBC Lambing Live Highlight Rural Social Issues

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

This week BBC Two have been broadcasting live from a sheep farm to show the story of lambing and even, as the title suggests, lambing live on television. In between the live shows there are inserts and stories on the year through a shepherds eyes. This has covered a whole host of events, such as selecting the right ram to trimming the ewes and last night (Wednesday) they showed a weekly event for Jim and his family going to the local pub to go bowling. This began a discussion on the solitude and loneliness of farming and how important socialising is for farmers. It was said that farmers can go days without speaking to anyone else at all, which maybe why many are so welcoming offering cups of tea!

We have a small flock and here is Kissinggates.com first lamb of 2010!

Kissinggates.com have a small flock and here is our first lamb of 2010!

The problem we are hearing a lot of is rural pubs closing and where can a farmer wants a wife find their prospect if the social location is completely removed. In response to this problem Kissinggates.com was launched by a farmer, for farmers. However now the site has grown from it’s humble beginnings in 2008 from a farm office we have opened our doors and become a rural themed dating website. Interestingly a large growth area for us is Horse Dating, and equestrian fans register on Kissinggates.com looking for other like minded members who share a passion for the outdoor and living extreme.

Lambing live is on Tonight at 8.00pm on BBC Two.

Countryside Dating Success Story

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Kissinggates.com regularly match couples and it’s is very rewarding to pull two people together who have almost given up on finding love, particularly if they live in Britain’s rural countryside and find dating difficult and unpractical.

That is why Kissinggates.com is so great, it matches like-minded individuals who share a love of all things rural, registration is free and simple.

We just received another thank you note from a couple who initially were just looking for Country Friends. Lucy said;

I have 2 children, I’m divorced and I love horses which can often put men off, that’s why I joined Kissinggates.com after searching for horse dating sites. I got a lot of messages but one stood out from a local farmer, Mike. He had some stables and children of a similar age and luckily the similarities didn’t end there! We are now planning on moving into together, thank you for making two families happy again.”

Kissinggates Feature on Countryfile.

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Julia Bradbury, reported rambling in South Shropshire on this week’s Countryfile, which is said to attract 250,000 visitors / year. Julia joined a group of ramblers to find out whether walking is a good route to finding romance in the countryside.

The conclusion was YES! :) This is fantastic if you are looking for Horse Dating and love in the countryside, Julia amusingly finds a kissinggate and gives every rambler a kiss as they pass through the gate, some rather more enthusiastic than others! This highlights how appropriate the name Kissinggates.com is for a rural themed dating website.

We love Countryfile, if you missed this weeks and would like to watch it go to the BBC.co.uk/iplayer

The Peter Levy Show

The Peter Levy Show

James Vestbirk was interviewed live on The Peter Levy Show this afternoon discussing online dating and KissingGates.com growth during this romantic time of year, Valentines Day! This is particularly relevant to Humberside where there are a lot of Farmer Wants A Wife.

Peter was particularly interested in the difficulties for single parents and divorced couples in the region who find it very difficult to meet new single farmers. Especially if for example you are : 48, divorced, with two children and 4 horses to look after, you would have to go horse dating to find someone.

Online Dating Tips for over 50’s

Friday, January 29th, 2010

The concept of online dating is easy to understand for an under 30 who has grown up with the social media evolution, however it is something quite different for some over 50’s who maybe nervous about puting a picture or personal profile on an online dating site.

So we have listed some useful tips and advice to help you once you have registered free on kissinggates.com to find single farmers and horse lovers. Kissinggates.com is the home of rural dating and helps find Partners for Farmers.

1. Be realistic with what you want to get out of online dating.

You maybe divorced, widowed, or looking for the man of your dreams – online dating could have the answer, but what is the question? One benefit of being over 50 is you have life experience and know what you want, or more importantly what you don’t want. On your profile on Kissinggates.com there is an option titled “What are you looking for?” Ensure you select the correct option for yourself.

2.  Be honest in your profile.

Writing a dating profile can be very difficult but if you get it right it can save you  a lot of time! Once a member please read our profile tips and guides on the “write your profile” section. If you love horses and are into Horse Dating tell people in your profile, you don’t want to go on a date and then find out the man / woman is allergic to horses!

3. Be positive and have fun over 50’s dating

Don’t expect Kissinggates.com to hold all the answers, but see it is as a serious way to meet new singletons of a similar age in your area with similar interests - What more could you ask!
